The president of the National Black Police Association has called for greater representation of ethnic minority backgrounds in Northern Ireland policing.He said officers from ethnic minority backgrounds make up 0.5% of the PSNI.
"The census this year brought [the population of minority ethnic groups in Northern Ireland] up to 3.4%," Mr George said. "Just think how noticeable that would be, how visible that would be and how they could then share their experiences of coming from an ethnic background in Northern Ireland to their colleagues."Having more officers from ethnic minority backgrounds would benefit the PSNI, says Andy George
"What I don't want to see as president is for that trust and confidence to erode so fast in our black and Asian communities in Northern Ireland," he said.
NBPAUK This is becoming a joke in all areas of work. People who are not fit for a job are shoehorned in so the company can say look at us we are being diverse. Problem is a lot of the people can not do the job. But hey does that matter. Bloody right it does

NBPAUK The Police need to go back to a recruiting process where regardless of religion or in this case race, only the top of the class get offered a contract. The organisation has suffered enough with the 50/50 nonsense to give favour ever again

NBPAUK Genuine question, what percentage of those applying are from an ethnic minority background? If it's equal to those who are successful then is that not how the system was intended to work? If the applications are low then work needs to be done in encouraging people to apply.
NBPAUK Given ChiefConPSNI has halted recruitment due to financial constraints it's highly unlikely any ethnicity will be represented, nevermind ethnic minorities.
