All lanes have since reopened and drivers have been told to expect delays

A busy stretch of the M1 was closed over concerns for a man's safety. Officers were called to the incident on the northbound carriageway between junction 26 for the A610 and junction 27 for the A608 Mansfield Road .

Police said the man sustained injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening or life-altering. . "We would like to thank the public for their patience while we were dealing with this incident," a Nottinghamshire Police statement read. In an update just after 11.30am, officials of National Highways: East Midlands said there were delays of half an hour but the congestion was starting to ease.

The northbound carriageway was also partially closed further on following a lorry fire between junction 29 for Chesterfield and Mansfield and junction 29a for Markham Vale. The Samaritans run a free 24-hour phone line on 116 123 for people experiencing a range of problems, and also has a website with further details.
