Police 'smashed a door down' of a house amid fears people were inside as the home next door went up in flames, residents have claimed. Emergency services raced to Totland Close in Levenshulme on Tuesday after a semi-detached home caught fire.
Neighbours were evacuated while fire crews worked to dampen the flames. No casualties were reported and emergency services left the scene a number of hours later. The next door neighbour of the fire hit semi-detached home, who asked not to be named, told the M.E.N, claimed there 'were four children upstairs' but that 'they were unaffected' by the blaze.
Police and fire crews remained at the scene for a number of hours on Tuesday, with the street blocked off by emergency services vehicles. The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed but an investigation is ongoing.
