Police searching for missing woman, 22, find body in river

Officers previously said they were scouring a river in the Nidd Gorge after a member of public found some of the young woman’s belongings nearby on Saturday morning.

A spokesperson from North Yorkshire Police released an update today, saying: ‘Police searching for missing Sophie Lambert in the Harrogate area have confirmed a body has been found in the River Nidd near Nidd Gorge on Wednesday morning. ‘It is too early to confirm the identity, but Sophie’s family have been informed and are receiving specialist support.

‘We ask that their privacy is respected. We thank everyone who has supported the missing person appeal over the last few days.The body was found in the River Nidd near Nidd Gorge, said police Sophie had last been seen on CCVT footage around 7pm on Friday.
