Police save man from jumping in Leeds road hours after another suicide

Officers deal with mental health crises in Yorkshire every day. Police saved two men on Monday across Leeds, who had attempted to take their own lives due to battles with mental health.

Police in Leeds saved a homeless person who was threatening to jump from height in Whitehall Road today because of the lack of housing support he had received. The man is now being assisted with his housing thanks to officers.A spokesperson for the force said: "A day of MH crisis today Homeless person wanting to jump from height at Whitehall Rd, struggling with lack of housing support and in an endless MH service to service cycle.

"Now safe and being assisted with housing. Another male engaged earlier on a bridge and taken to safety." However sadly the team were unsuccessful at saving a man who took his own life in his home this morning. They said: "Sadly the team were unsuccessful in CPR for another male that has taken his own life in his home this morning. Our teams deal with emergency mental health crisis everyday, they make us proud"
