A man who was stabbed in the chest in an attack on a busy road in Longsight is now 'stable' in hospital, police have confirmed in an update.
The man is now 'stable' in hospital, the force said in an update issued this afternoon. Officers arrested a man - aged in his 50s - on the scene on suspicion of attempted murder.He remains in custody today to be quizzed by detectives. As emergency services responded last night, part of busy Slade Lane and adjoining Slade Grove were cordoned off.
She said: "This incident is undoubtedly a concerning one for the community that live and work in that area. I want to reassure everyone, that we are following every line of enquiry that we have, and we are continuing to question a man who was arrested at the scene shortly after the incident took place.
