Police chief says he was 'heavily criticized' for taser rollout

Nick Adderley, Chief Constable of Northamptonshire Police, has revealed he was "heavily criticized" by other chief constables for his controversial rollout of tasers in 2019. In an interview this morning, Thursday July 28, he said the decision has since "shown its value" with many forces adopting the scheme since.

He insisted police "absolutely do" get involved with the aftercare of such incidents. "There are people who need help. When it gets to the stage they're intent on taking their own life, it is important we play our part to protect life."
