Poland reacts angrily to Netflix Nazi death camp documentary

Poland's prime minister has written a letter to the streaming company Netflix insisting on changes to a documentary about the Nazi death camps.

Mateusz Morawiecki said a map shown in the series locates the death camps within modern-day Poland's borders. This misrepresents Poland as being responsible for the death camps, when it was actually occupied by Germany in World War Two, Mr Morawiecki said.Nazi Germany invaded Poland in 1939, which marked the beginning of the war.The Germans built concentration camps including Auschwitz, killing millions of people, most of them Jews.

Mr Morawiecki said in his letter to Reed Hastings, the CEO of Netflix, that it was important to"honour the memory and preserve the truth about World War II and the Holocaust".

Stupid and senseless articles like that make me occasionally want UK to collapse... maybe then their journalism will somehow get better... BBC coverage of US is also very slanted. They act like a foreign agent. I think RT is more objective.

“Poland’s right-wing government says its goal is to defend the nation from slander, but scholars say the result is to stifle inquiry and reconciliation.”

Very telling that polish trolls are more concerned about the border of Poland than the atrocities described at Auschwitz. Narrator: There was a genocide. Poles: But not in polish borders !

The problem with right wing nationalist is that they wish to portray history to their own benefit. It was Nazis who concieved and built the death camps and brought about the holocaust. But they were helped by many from the nations they occupied.

With a sharpie, perhaps?

Probably worth mentioning that AuschwitzMuseum weren't exactly happy either...

To the documentary or to the obvious distortion of historical facts by Netflix?

That documentary wasn't well researched overall from what I'm reading.

czerniakowianka BBCWorld with another manipulative title. The real, true title should be..”Poland reacts angrily to NetflixPL netflix presenting German death camps on a map of contemporary Poland with an inference of possible Polish culpability in the Holocaust”

Mr Morawiecki, no one could possibly infer from the Netflix doco that Poland was responsible for the camps. The stain of the camps is part of world history and sadly part of Polish history. Poland was as much a victim when the Nazis committed their filth on her soil.

How long are they continue to deny their part?

An error with a line on a map has upset Poland.

Poland protests the use of a contemporary map of Europe with post-war border contours instead of the factually accurate map showing German- and Russian-occupied territories with no official Polish government.

Just tell that at this prime minister: There's only the truth who get people angry.

Does it put them in a bad light ?
