'Pillar of the community' unmasked after flight to Ibiza

To many who knew him, Karlos Escoffery was a community minded businessman who would always lend a listening ear and strap on his training shoes for charity.

Escoffery, of the Scholes in St Helens, meanwhile went by the pseudonym "MuckyMouth". The 50-year-old's communications showed agreements to traffic around 24kg of cocaine and 24.5kg of heroin. He has a total of 14 previous convictions for 32 offences, including being jailed for 46 months for possession of class A drugs with intent to supply in 2001. Damian Nolan, defending, told the court: "The conviction which is immediately relevant is of significant age.

"References from a broad church of people are consistent with that. Hopefully, the court recognises that there is another side to him." "You start at your level, if you can only run a mile then that’s it. No pressure, it's not a competition."
