The former ‘refreshments hut’ used to operate on match days only, and was closed around ten years ago.from Monday to Sunday, it has caused concern amongst those living nearby who say food waste may lead to a rat infestation in the area.

The proposals for the takeaway, on the junction of Hollins Road and Sir Tom Finney Way, from Mr S Ismail were lodged in April this year.One person who wished to remain anonymous toldThey said: “Even without the cafe youngsters will pull up in their car for a quick smoke in the car park and then they dump all the food rubbish.”

Mehboob from Deepdale, who set up the petition, also says that youngsters often cause nuisance for the neighbouring areas to the car park.He said: “Local people refused this idea from 10 to 12 years ago, and we complained to the council. “The youngsters that sit in the car always leave their food rubbish behind. The car park caretakers have to clean up food like burgers and pizza.“If the takeaway is open till late it will double the food rubbish.

“On top of that there’s already a parking issue, especially when football matches are on, with people parking in front of people’s houses.”
