Could also be said of the other side of the conflict, and the British Government's part in that. No one is proud of this sad period of our history but SF achieved equality and peace in the end. Why not recognise that?

The Irish people have voted in their droves for SF, in an election that really is none of the British media’s business...

If you know anything of the Irish Civil War then you know that FF and FG moved on from the violence. I’m no fan of SF and in the short term they will struggle to shrug off the past but it’s important to encourage them to follow the political route.

I spent over 5 years in N. Ireland during 'the troubles' as part of HM Forces. To me, Sinn Fein and the IRA always were and always will be one and the same, terrorist peddlers of death.
