'70% of the people coming off boats appear to be single men. Are they genuine asylum seekers or are they not? The feeling is they're not.' Ex-UK Border Force chief in Calais Kevin Saunders says Channel refugees are 'asylum shopping'. toryboypierce

Unprovoked, Mr Saunders began to break down the demographics of asylum seekers crossing the Channel.

"We see from the people coming off the boats that at least 70% of the people coming off the boats appear to be single men. Are they genuine asylum seekers or are they not? The feeling is they are not.""Very much so. That was very much my experience when I was working in France" the former Border Force chief stated.

He went on to make the case that Britain's generosity is a major pull factor for people in Calais, referencing the support for Ukrainians as an example. "The trouble is we can't keep accepting people who don't arrive here in the right and proper manner." "These people are not playing the game. they're destroying all their documents, we have no idea who they are. they're risking their lives, they're risking law enforcers lives, it's costing the Great British taxpayer £5 million a day in hotel rooms."

toryboypierce Don’t worry toryboypierce will have had a grasp of the facts of successful asylum cases and pointed out that his feelings were totally wrong - didn’t he?

toryboypierce But the fact is they are (based on the high percentage whose asylum claims are accepted).

toryboypierce Feeling from whom?

toryboypierce Single men, many of whom are fleeing countries where they would otherwise be forced to join an armed fight for a side that they couldn’t and will not support.

toryboypierce “Feeling”, is this context, is another word for prejudice, xenophobia and racism.

toryboypierce So the Ex-UK Border Force chief is admitting that he’s a xenophobic fool, then?

toryboypierce Men can't be genuine asylum seekers?

toryboypierce So brown men are less worthy immigrants than women. Got it. So tired of this racism and misandry

toryboypierce If that's the case, then why are the Home Office approving so many asylum applications? The facts kind of make his feeling irrelevant wouldn't you say?

toryboypierce Can we maybe agree on a general rule? Countries that went around the world stealing the wealth and people from other countries, and whose arms trade and military invasions continue to destabilise them... don't get to accuse people fleeing those countries of 'asylum shopping'.

toryboypierce Well, something tells me that his attitude to refugees is widely shared in the governing circles.

toryboypierce Just another bloke making it up... Appear/seem/apparent etc...

toryboypierce Toryboy is counting boats and mens again? Did he ever went on his holidays to Greece walking, high temperature, danger, violence, no food, and no water, long journey?I don't think so... For women and children is more difficult and dangerous.. But facts with Andrew, pointless

toryboypierce Good job we 'took back control, then, isn't it🤣🤣

toryboypierce So out of the 2 sexes, men or women, who do you think would be at less risk of dangerous exploitation & kidnap?

toryboypierce “Feeling” and fact are two different things.

toryboypierce 70% of LBC presenters are men. Are they genuine presenters or are they not? The feeling is they are not.

toryboypierce This is why we have law and judiciary. Test the evidence and make a judgement. This is a nothing twitter item . Be on your way

toryboypierce None of this is new, it has been happening for many years, economic migrants have been making their way from many countries to Europe through Greece and Italy, and trafficked, they have nothing to lose, who can blame them, they desire a better life

toryboypierce Ah! Our good old friend 'Feeling' is back again. What boolocks is he going cause now I wonder.

toryboypierce

toryboypierce Most of what he said has appeared on a far-right meme at some point. Little of it is reflected in facts.

toryboypierce Feeling? What about the fact that 75% go through the process and are granted asylum? Are you saying the home office process must be wrong? Because it is a feeling?

toryboypierce Home Office data published last week shows his hunch is wrong 'This shows the grant rate for the top 10 nationalities applying for asylum, half of which have a grant rate above 80% (Iran 88%, Eritrea 97%, Syria 98%, Afghanistan 91%, and Sudan 95%)'

toryboypierce 'The feeling'? So no facts then? Bloody ignorant! Who do you expect to come in the boats. Do you think it should be grannies and babies making the perilous journey to find sanctuary for the family? Is that what you'd do? Change the record. Tired of hearing from ignoramuses.

toryboypierce The 'feeling' ? What about facts - it was 'feelings' that gave us Brexit....
