A Nottinghamshire village pensioner says she gets anxiety every morning due to trees overhanging her garden from a nearby cemetery. Janice Butler, 74 and of Meadow Rise, Bulwell, says an ash tree and an oak tree located in the Northern Cemetery next to her garden have been damaging her property for the past decade.
After failing to receive support from Nottingham City Council, she decided to take matters into her own hands and hired a private company to trim the overhanging branches in July. This has cost the pensioner, who lives on her own, £500, which she says she can't afford to pay again.Janice said: "I get anxiety in the morning when I wake up. It passes after about half an hour but I think I get it because I know winter's coming and all these trees will start shedding.
"I can't afford to keep paying to get it trimmed." The woman has also been asked to get a survey claim off her house insurance - which she thinks is unfair as the tree is not hers.
