A pensioner has been fined for causing the death by careless driving of a 44-year-old man. Margaret Atkinson, 74, of Plum Tree Close, Big Lane, Clarborough, Retford, pleaded guilty earlier this month.
The victim was Steven Fowler who was crossing the road when the collision happened. He died after being struck by her car. Officers were called to Wharf Road, Retford, after reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian.
She shouldn't be driving if she is incapable.
Jesus. Fine and costs around £1100 and that's it? I'm assuming there's an automatic driving ban for some time too, but even so. One can't help but wonder if the sentence would've been heavier if a young lad had been driving rather than a little old lady.
