The park has now taken the step to"ask all retailers in the national park and its boundaries to consider voluntarily removing disposable barbecues from sale".The Hope store's manager Chris Thorne, said:"We heard of a few fires happening over the weekend, so we took the decision to stop selling barbecues.
"The fires are caused by tourists coming in so they have brought the barbecue with them, but stopping selling them may make a difference."in April, after four men travelled from Leeds to the Derbyshire Moors at the height of lockdown.Image captionHe said he has seen an increase in the number of unattended camp fires and barbecues since lockdown has been in place.

Please just ban everything. Please. We need to ban any and all things that can in someway lead to death or disaster. Please.
Ban disposable BBQs period.
Reluctant to send children back to school but happy to set the countryside alight.
Phew! For a moment there I thought it was another BBC report about the 'Peaceful Protests' in America
It doesn't need a ban on BBQs, it needs a ban on stupid people.
Ban:- Disposable BBQ’s, Chinese Lanterns, Fireworks and Jacob Rees-Mogg from Technology
Should ban all disposable / charcoal based BBQs unless they’re used in a sanctioned area. Same with camp fires. Gas lit is the way forward if you want to cook something. They’re not even expensive nowadays.
Portable gas BBQs that can pack easily into a car don't generate sparks or pose any risk to grassland or undergrowth and there are many which are suitable for this made by Calor, Cadac, Weber, Campingaz, Kampa, Fir Tree, Universal Innovations and other brands. Clean and safe.
susiekearley The disposable ones should be banned in all public places. They can't be safely disposed of for a long time after they're lit, meaning that they're either just left, or cause bin fires or burns.
Let's hope the government don't have to make the ban or they will just wait till everything's gone then bring the ban in!!
you wont report in this will you BBC because it goes against your left wing treacherous narrative!
How stupid can people be? I despair. It is as if we have two different species of human being on this wonderful planet nowadays. Those who care and are considerate and those who care only about themselves. How do we change this awful situation?
