A minister has said it is 'not immediately obvious' an investigation is needed into allegations that Carrie Johnson held a lockdown party that was not part of the Sue Gray inquiry

Labour MP Chris Bryant, who is standing aside as chair of the privileges committee for the inquiry as he has been highly critical over partygate, said:"I'm sure the committee will want to follow the evidence wherever it may lead."

Chris Philp, the technology and digital economy minister, told Sky News' Kay Burley it was"not immediately obvious" an investigation is needed into the allegations as the Met Police and Sue Gray inquiry have been"unbelievably comprehensive". The aide claims the Gray investigation team failed to follow up on the offer and once the Met's investigation concluded two weeks ago, they offered the messages to the Gray team but nothing happened.

Remainer MP's at it again.

That's it. I've had enough. I'm blocking you.

Any news on beergate or have DurhamPolice been nobbled?

Will the privilege committee be having the texts/calls from starmer on the curry night?

Tory MP’s must make it clear to him his rule changes to protect himself from corruption and lies to the House of Parliament must be reversed

Ms Symonds as she was during the strict lockdown parties is not answerable to MPs she was merely the PM's inamorata not an employee These parties are criminal matters to be investigated by Met police

It was a job interview with karaoke

No wonder the PM always looked like he'd been dragged through a hedge backwards he was clearly still hammered... Makes sense now, the bloke didn't no what was going on half the time!

Well then, it can be a police inquiry straight out of the 'I didn't understand the rules' book. I guess turning over to ask and seeing Bojo is pretty scary.

Would that be the same Minister who said all the rules were followed at parties which didn't take place where vomit and wine presumably spilled itself? Or maybe it was the same Minister who claimed people were only poor because they didn't buy value brand gruel?

Dear God Almighty, are the media still banging on about this. They've all completely lost the plot.

Partgate is over and done with.

O she is not political and another witch hunt 😡😡😡😡

Partygate: 'Not immediately obvious' investigation needed into alleged Carrie Johnson Downing Street lockdown party, minister saysThe event for the prime minister's birthday was flagged up by an aide, who said they were asked to organise it, but was not included in the Sue Gray inquiry. The Cabinet Office claims the aide was asked to provide all relevant information to officials but did not. Obviously it wasn’t looked into thoroughly as some gatherings were hidden I'm sure Sue Gray had a lot of pressure put onto her. People want to keep their jobs. That’s OK. Just another nail in the Tory’s ability to win another election. The Government is completely miss judging the country’s anger and ability to see what the government is up to: u-turns and ridiculous policies none of which address the actual crisis the country’s in.
