The head of Ofsted has spoken out about the big rise in the number of families choosing to homeschool as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

In the interview, Spielman revealed that Ofsted inspectors are reporting rumours on social media are driving much of the fear among parents.'Parents have absorbed a lot of misinformation that’s making them more anxious than they need to be. Some of the headteachers told us they are having to explain and re-explain the real situation to parents.

Even before coronavirus, homeschooling had lots of celebrity fans, with Brad Pitt, Will Smith and Nadia Sawalha all choosing to keep their children out of mainstream schools.
