'Can we please stop fretting over meaningless graphs of the number of new infections and look instead at what really matters?' asks RossjournoClark

Why is anyone interested in the number of recorded cases of Covid 19? It might sound a daft question, given that we are in the middle of a pandemic, but it ought to be clear to anyone who spends a few minutes digging around the figures that it is a meaningless statistic. Count deaths, by all means, hospital admissions, ICU admissions – but as for the official figures of how many people have tested positive for the disease, it is pointless worrying about them.

RossjournoClark We've reached a new low when our government and their mouthpieces tell us that our very lives don't matter.

RossjournoClark Why are you still publishing them then? Hypocrites

RossjournoClark If the figues are correct, then there are fewer than 50 cases in my home County, yet... The government are now suggesting that elderly, and people like me (at risk), may be locked-down AGAIN... Why!? I WILL ignore it if they follow this course of action.

RossjournoClark Wait a couple of weeks, you will understand the causality link between infections and hospital admissions. Even after 6 months of pandemic 45k death in the UK you fail to grasp this basic fact

RossjournoClark

RossjournoClark This is not true. The number of cases rising or falling is an indicator of the degree of spread and whether mitigation methods are effective.

RossjournoClark Yeh, and let’s top fretting over the science too (unlimited stupidity)

RossjournoClark The number of daily dead?

RossjournoClark I have been tracking deaths I realise there is a lag, but deaths are more significant We are back below pre lockdown levels, let's hope we stay there But it's only possible if everyone wears a mask Half the people on my tube carriage were not

RossjournoClark Well maybe you cpuld practice what you preach telegraph as you post those graphs and figures everyday too dont forget?

RossjournoClark 'We're just stopping to take on some fresh ice'

RossjournoClark Bless The Telegraph - you really are doing your best. But I think you need to really go for this government. Logic and reason isn’t stopping them. Time to get nasty. Hancock must go!

RossjournoClark

RossjournoClark It's not the graphs that are meaningless. That's a debasement of science and evidence. We need science explaining, not gobby politicians & columnists Unfortunately we have a govenment that sees the purpose of the COVID-19 response to protect its arse instead of actually helping.

RossjournoClark

RossjournoClark Meaningless graphs...🙄 No wonder Westminster stopped their daily updates and lifted the lock down..🤔 Now they have the media concentrate on how terrible spikes are abroad ...look where people are still dying.🤨

RossjournoClark Awareness isn`t panic. A Telegraph hack`s lack of awareness is irresponsible.

RossjournoClark Hallelujah, a journalist that is not afraid to tell the truth. Oh and don't get me going on those masks!

RossjournoClark Incorrect. Death rates from past cases help predict deaths from new cases. Rates vary from city to city based on how overwhelmed hospitals are. If hospital beds are up in an area death rates will be higher as doctors choose who to treat. Deaths occur 3 weeks after infection.

RossjournoClark

RossjournoClark They are only meaningless when you're stupid

RossjournoClark The really matters is just coronavirus that its vaccine still in developing right now!!!

RossjournoClark The conservative party

RossjournoClark Until the Grim Reaper knocks at your door.

RossjournoClark No doubt you’d have been one of those telling us not to worry about Hitler and commending Chamberlin in 1930s. You’d have written the same BS in the middle of the bubonic plague. Such irresponsible journalism Designed to pander to the swivel eyed Covid deniers.

RossjournoClark It's also important to note the permanent damage to the lungs and especially the heart that occur in the vast majority of cases, including those that aren't hospitalized

RossjournoClark hospital admissions and deaths are a percentage of infections figures aren't meaningless but the method of testing is reliant upon volunteers not a general global geographic infection test

RossjournoClark Sure let’s all go to the pub and see who dies. Don’t panic!
