Officers had attempted to stop a car on Underwood Road in the town in connection with road traffic offences at around 11am on Saturday, April 6. However, the driver failed to stop and police launched a pursuit which came to an end after the driver crashed.
Images from the scene show a red Audi, which appears to have struck another vehicle, surrounded by police. An eyewitness said they were forced to slam on the breaks to avoid a crash which only ended as the police used their vehicle to stop the driver. He will appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday .
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Shortly after 11am on Saturday, 6 April, 2024, police attempted to stop a car on Underwood Road, Paisley, in connection with road traffic offences. A short pursuit took place, which came to an end when the car crashed in on Underwood Road at Caledonia Street. “A 17-year-old male youth has been arrested and charged in connection with road traffic and drug offences. He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, 8 April, 2024, and a report will be sent to the relevant authorities.”
