Roxy, a Dogue de Bordeaux cross, was spotted by Emma Fowler in Boxted, Essex on April 21. Emma took the three-year-old pet to a veterinary surgery and alerted the RSPCA as they suspected she had been neglected, the BBC reported. The RSPCA, which said Roxy weighed around 25kg less than a healthy Dogue de Bordeaux at just 29kg, has now launched an investigation.
’ Roxy weighed just 29kg when she was found Nicky Thorne, an RSPCA inspector, added: ‘Roxy is painfully skinny… It’s clearly taken a significant amount of time for her to get into this state so I suspect she’s been seriously neglected.’ Roxy was microchipped to a property in Halstead, Essex, however previous owners said she was rehomed in September 2023.
