Despite all their bravery and hard work, Boris Johnson is still failing to keep them safe, says Labour deputy leader Angela Rayner

The key workers who have helped get our country through this crisis have rightly been praised as heroes this year. But the truth is, they have always been heroes. They have always been the backbone of our country, of our communities and of our economy: the people we cannot survive without.

Ashamed was unaware of paltry sum care workers were earning (av wage £8.10/ hr) & as AngelaRayner an ex care worker says if it was wrong before the pandemic “now it is unconscionable” . Gov MUST act & prioritise increases b4 new wave MattHancock BorisJohnson RishiSunak

Unfortunately they are at the vulnerable end of the spectrum. Struggling to renew work permits. Heavy load of remittances back home. No union. Rope for exploitation

They should ask for a pay raise then.

Pay anyone who charges a bed, 40k per year?
