Researchers from the University of Exeter recorded more than 1,000 signals between 16 orangutans and deciphered their meaning.

Researchers recorded more than 1,000 signals between 16 orangutans. Found the apes communicate with 'language' of 11 vocal signals and 21 'gestures'. Adults use sounds and gestures in equal amounts but juveniles prefer physical.
