It’s tempting to blame politicians but they instinctively follow public opinion rather than shape it. The uncomfortable truth might be that we, the electorate, are ultimately responsible

They have made a choice and therefore have to live with the consequences- just sad for the families and friends

It is a way to pretend higher moral grounds.

Yes I care.

No, but I do care about mental health, and if people are turning to drugs to combat their problems then yes

I think it is a Darwinian solution to a ongoing problem.....

No I do not care one single bit. These people are some of the most selfish you will ever meet.

Um..., no. :-)

I think deaths could be reduced by legalizing drugs and allowing the use in careful conjunction with GPs and Pharmacists.

I care about why.

And there is a bit of double think from the left when it comes to drugs. Alcohol and cigarettes are an issue (which they are) but in same breath, legalising all drugs will solve the problems despite the fact they haven't for fags/booze!!

There should be no law blocking someone from suicide

No. And are they proportionally going up anyhow? Proportional to population it probably hasn't shifted.

Yes we humans are emphatic creatures of course I care about others.

Do they

Independent: do you actually care whether or not we care?

Part of me says the drugs aren't the problem, but the trauma that drives it (don't me with 12 step progs. they're a flawed model) and we need treatment for that, but i know enough folk who were assholes before they found a needle, so, no. let them die and cleanse the earth

Most don’t until it touches them personally. When someone they care about dies it suddenly becomes a crisis. Human nature stinks.

ChrisJHudson More the merrier.

Of course! Arrest the big pharma crooks peddling dangerous drugs

Aye

Drugs, smoking and drinking are alll the same all lead to death in some sort of way, yet we view someone addicted to crack different to someone addicted to tobacco... this nation insane, addict is an addict.. help them just as we would someone with lung cancer due to smoking

No I don’t. Drugs ruin lives. We all know this. Taking drugs in my mind means you consent to the risk. Sorry not sorry.

No

No for me

I care that they are making it more difficult for people legitimately in pain to get their medication.

Not really. Don’t take class A drugs or you might die. Think everyone knows that.

No

Not really. Don't take drugs.

Yes!!! I do care, but don’t know what to do about it as individual.. and how to stop 🛑

Absolutely not!

Nope- it’s like another world

Yes. I know the drug culture is very prevalent. Most of my friends take cannabis and they think it does no harm. They are mistaken. Some of my friends regularly take cocaine. And they think they’re handling it. They’re all mistaken. I don’t want them to die.

I care

Yes. And enough to advocate better new solutions, not the ones that have failed us for decades. Decriminalization has to be high on the list of these.

Not enough of them. Horrible junkies still swarm the streets during the day.

Well it shows having them against the law rather than dealing in education and support doesn’t work.

Of course I care. Where does it fall on the list of thousands of things I care about? Considering it's self made problem, there are many things of more importance.

no.

Yes, I do.

Why is this even a question ? Of course we do!

No

Yes, its a chemical weapons attack wake up.

Yes, I do. And rightly so. It does not have to be like this and it should not be like this. We must legalise, regulate and control the market to take drugs out of the hands of criminals and save lives. Not doing so is cowardly. TransformDrugs WeAreTheLoopUK CDPRGUK

Not really. Too many people on the planet. The ones that want to jump off a building should have that right. Try not to land on anyone. But for those that want help we should absolutely be there with a hand.

yes i do but nowt will change until it becomes public health issue and instead of being dealt with by the criminal justice system !!!

When you have lost good friends to drug related deaths then of course you do.

World, or Olympic?

Their bodies their choice. If they don't care why should we?

Yes, I do. Next question.

Drug deaths at highest level since records began - ONSThere were 4,359 deaths from drug poisoning in England and Wales in 2018 - the highest number since records began, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) has said The 'war on drugs' is going well then... More of the same please 👍 Hardly surprising, when you have give it a go chemists/drug dealers trying to water their products down so they can sell it in a bigger batch. This is where cannabis policing should end and go after drug dealers that sell this crap instead. This is why decriminalisation and regulation has to be enforced instead of the WarOnDrugs. The government are forcing people with genuine issues both physical and mental into the arms of criminals with no safety standards instead of providing the help and support they need.

Drug deaths soar to highest level on recordA government adviser blames cuts to treatment programmes as the death toll hit 2,917 in 2018. Maybe you should start reporting real stories like the terrorist attack in Sydney which was stopped by a few Brits. Shame on the BBC for being fake and unreliable. Thank god i have never paid for a TV licence. You are a joke! The world already knows about this attack, Should it not be blamed on those who are taking drugs? No blame at all attached to the individual that takes it? We are all responsible for our actions, and there are no actions that do not have consequences. Can we not choose to empower the new generations with a sense of personal responsibility?

Ecstasy deaths highest on recordONS figures show deaths from MDMA and ecstasy are at the highest since records began. Darwin’s theory 🙄 Prohibition never has worked and never will. Government is culpable for not legalising and regulating a commonly used substance. It's not the MDMA killing people it's all the other garbage they're putting in the tablets.
