It's been in the works since the start of the year

The opening date for a new Chinese restaurant in Nottingham city centre has been revealed. WOWO, on King Street, will welcome its first customers on Wednesday, April 3.

The building, previously host to Simpsons-themed vegan deli No Homers, is Grade-II listed but has been empty for nearly two years, since June 2022. Now, decorative Chinese signs adorn the front of the building and the poster in the window, which used to say "coming to Nottingham early 2024", has now been replaced with the new opening date.

The business describes itself as "Chinese fast food done good" and promises "boxes of deliciousness brought to you by the finest wok hustlers". Because it is a listed building, WOWO had to get planning permission from Nottingham City Council to put in a new shopfront, illuminated signs and carry out repairs.

It appears to be an independent company rather than a franchise or chain - despite the fact that its tagline is "your favourite Chinese just got better". The business will offer dine-in, takeaway and delivery options.
