In total, 86 of the 650 representatives employed a relative, spending around £2.5million of taxpayer’s money on their salaries. Among the MPs who declared their wives or partners as members of staff were 45 male Tory MPs, an analysis by theIn total, 54 Conservative MPs declared having close family members on their parliamentary staff in 2020, in jobs such as office managers, researchers, assistants and secretaries.Robert Buckland, the Prisons Minister, Simon Hart, Secretary of State for Wales, and Sir Graham Brady, chair of the influential 1922 Committee, were among those to employ relatives.
