Olly Alexander struggled to hide his emotions as he admitted he was 'thrown off' my a wardrobe malfunction during his performance at the Eurovision Semi Final on Tuesday night.
He told fans: 'Eurovision update. Semi Final one was last night, I performed, it was good. I had a slight wardrobe malfunction, well my mic pack fell out halfway through the performance so I had to catch it. Taking some deep breaths he continued: 'But it doesn't matter. That is the thrill of live music, television anything can happen.
Speaking about the performance as a whole Olly said: 'It was very good to perform in the semi-final because there's less pressure so I'm there with all the other contestants but I'm already qualified for the final, so I get to run the whole show as if it was the real thing but I don’t have to worry about the voting, so that was good.'
Taking some deep breaths he continued: 'But it doesn't matter. That is the thrill of live music, television anything can happen' 'Honestly, I’ve never been in an environment like this before because you’ve got those 3 minutes and it’s over before it’s begun. Directed by Theo Adams, Olly admitted that when the concept for the staging was first brought to him it blew his mind and is the most rehearsed performance he has ever executed
While half seemed to love the song and raved about the expressive staging, others noticed Olly's vocals were slightly off and shaky, as one even hoped he was saving his vocals ahead of Saturday's final. 'The dancing is a bit naughty and the team is fantastic. It's like the Olympics of music, it's a fun, chaotic circus.
Filmed inside the room for the majority of the performance, it was only in the final chorus the entourage broke out onto the stage as he belted out the final notes. 'Fantastic performance from @alexander_olly amazing staging.
