The central idea that putting pressure on people to perform has not led to higher standards – instead it has led to an epidemic of poor mental health, hyper-anxiety and self-harm in both pupils and adults.
He called for Ofsted to be “disbanded and be replaced by a system of professional collaboration and support”, underpinned by an understanding that schools operate in different circumstances across the country.

What a tragic story. There is so much importance, and therefore stress, attached to a visit from Ofsted. Most of it unnecessary.
