Naga Munchetty has been a presenter on BBC Breakfast for the last 10 years
The BBC's director general Lord Hall recently reversed a decision to partially uphold a complaint against the BBC Breakfast host for comments she made about US President Donald Trump. The regulator said it would not investigate complaints about Munchetty's comments and the BBC's subsequent handling of the situation, but that it"will be addressing the BBC's lack of transparency as a matter of urgency".
But he added:"More widely, we have serious concerns around the transparency of the BBC's complaints process, which must command the confidence of the public. We'll be requiring the BBC to be more transparent about its processes and compliance findings as a matter of urgency."
IainDale LBC Ofcom Iain, Stop pretending. You know very well BBC is a racist organization. Why do you think the BBC refused to play this track in support of NHS with radio royalties? Journalism is used as an excuse to hide racial discrimination
Why does any of this happen? Why is the BBC subject to complaint? If you don’t like it, change the channel, there are 200 other ones to watch. overregulation
They should be criticised for blatant pro-EU bias! ofcom
Which will amount to nothing. The BBC will continue its right-wing agenda, unfairly marginalise BAME and LGBT+ opinions and interests until maybe they get caught out like this in a few years again and it will again, amount to nothing.
One more case of BBC reporters and presenters being given the green light to say what ever they want with complete immunity. As long as they have some important celebrity friends to put in a good word. Then , hey presto, a complete u turn. Nice.
So, based on Ofcom's comments, and disciplinary actions taken againt any person should be made public?
It simple When any news presenter or anyone reading/telling the news they should never express their own opinions on that or any other news announcement They are there to report the facts not their opinion or interpretation of that news report
I would like to complain about Naga Munchetty's interview on GMB of exMP Harvey Procter who was exposed to uncalled for aggressive techniques. Instead of dealing with him sympathetically she acted like a rottweiller in a Brazenly Biased Commentariat cross examination.
Let the BBC criticise anybody. After all, how many people criticise the BBC over the TV licence? The BBC don't listen so I hope Naga Munchetty sticks two fingers up to them!
Lack of transparency in general with the bbc .....naga is one of the best presenters on the bbc
So they should it was badly handled, and no way was either of the presenters wrong in any way.
The woman had no case to answer, the complaints against her were bollocks and lord hall was right to reverse them. She was expressing an opinion about something she has knowledge about and calling it as she saw it.
I thought they were completely transparent tbh. Just not in a good way.
