O2 denies claims the government asked for location data to see if Brits were social distancing

Sky News initially said that the Government had asked O2 to reveal the location data of its users.

They stressed that if location data was to be revealed then it would be broad mass movements and not on an individual basis."Besides zero rating access to NHS and other support websites, we were asked along with other mobile operators to support those who are working tirelessly to map and control the spread of coronavirus in the UK.

The most common signs of coronavirus in confirmed cases of Covid-19 from China up to February 22, 2020, a BT spokesperson said: "We are talking with the government about a number of areas in which we may be able to assist with the national public health effort,” said a spokesman for BT."As always, we are mindful of the privacy of our customers, while making sure we do everything that might help the medical authorities in the fight against coronavirus.
