A word from Jensen over the price of the RTX 4080.

Since TSMC's 4nm production capacity is highly sought after right now, we can only speculate just how much Nvidia is being charged for manufacturing the Ada Lovelace processors. Ultimately, we can't expect Nvidia to swallow all the extra manufacturing costs if that's been the case; some of it will inevitably trickle down to the consumer.

The question remains, are users willing to spend what Nvidia is asking for an RTX 4080 card? The recent scramble for the RTX 30-series cards would suggest it's possible, but then we've got less to contend with this time around, thanks to the Ethereum merge all but killing GPU mining.Hardware Writer Screw sports, Katie would rather watch Intel, AMD and Nvidia go at it. Having been obsessed with computers and graphics for three long decades, she took Game Art and Design up to Masters level at uni, and has been demystifying tech and science—rather sarcastically—for two years since. She can be found admiring AI advancements, scrambling for scintillating Raspberry Pi projects, preaching cybersecurity awareness, sighing over semiconductors, and gawping at the latest GPU upgrades.

In other words, as their new tech matures, they aren't going to pass the savings on to us anymore, just going to pocket the extra profit. We'll see how long that lasts. Nvidia has even more competition now if Intel keeps making GPUs.

nvidia No.3 company soon !

Fuck that and them. AMD for me from now on.

Lol. That is why you raised the price Nvidia?

Jensen huang is a very arrogant individual, he knows people will buy nvidia stuff no matter how much it costs as nvidia is still market leader and still the go to for most people. Undercutting partners, and saying those partners dont deserve shit. Arrogance.

Its overprice just to entertain yourself 🫠

I guess PC gamer is just ignoring the covid price when the 30 series came out

No problem, I will vote with my wallet and go Team Red next time around. 👍

It’s arrogance, not confidence. AMD is already proven to compete with the 6800 and 6900 GPU’s. Nvidia is grossly underestimating AMD’s potential to out perform and undercut Nvidia with the 7000 series GPU’s and disrupt their market share. Just like Intel did with Ryzen.

They saw people buying the scalpers price so they just decided to make that the base price so they can get a cut 🤪

It's been dead for years.

A law is called a law for a reason. Just because one party tries to ignore the law and flexing their monopoly muscles doesn't mean others will. If anything this gives a prime opportunity to get into the market for everyone. Intel and AMD are probably very happy right now.

It's the confidence off someone who knows their price gauging the the shit out of people

lol lmao

Sure. Who will buy cards no games need for those prices? I think the 3070 was my last Nvidia card.

Yeah... They'll change their tune once sales crash through the floor compared to their competition..

And this is how corporations fall. GR33D

Not even joking this statement caused me to go check GPU prices and buy an RX 6800 XT to replace my GTX 1080 a week ago. If this is how Nvidia is gonna go then they can lick my balls

a bold statement

It's dead until AMD launch the 7000 series cards 😎

If a 60 model costs more than a top of the line console consistently, you’ll see a big shift.

Negative. Not yet. If rtx 4090 is 2-4 times more powerful than rtx 3090 but NVIDIA claims it only cost about the same as rtx 3090 when rtx 3090 was published, that would prove that Moore's law still exists

When we get to quantum it won't even matter

Underwhelming specs and more money. Yeps it's a generation skip.

Because instead of always charging more, from now on they’re always charging too much?

I'll stick to the 3080 TI. The bots will just double the price of the 40 series anyway.

At a certain point it's ridiculous. They are hurting gaming with their greed.

It's telling me what stock to invest in.. But as for buying a new card? I think they're going to take a hit and the next line is going to have to be priced better if they want to remain competitive. I was ready to build a new PC very soon.. Now I'm not so sure it's worth it.

👎🏾 Im gonna stick to my 2080ti till it disintegrates or go AMD

The issue is these gimps got used to seeing everyone pay insane prices when the 30 series came out, and now they think everyone will still be willing to pay like that. Think I'll stick with my 3060. Thats got 12gb like the 40(7)0 and I'd bet they perform similar too.

Moore's law has never been accurate to begin with so...

Maybe dont list you 12gb as a 4080 and think your consumers are brain dead. Make this shady shit end and boycott this generation.

Man he really loves that jacket it seems.

Looks like a good time to get a 3080

The 4080 is absolutely not worth the price they are asking. I’m either going to go with team red ( their new cards with rdna3 are looking awesome ) or I’ll wait for the Ti versions of the 4000 series.

mooreslawisdead

We want moron law

If Moores Law is really dead, it's no problem to wait a few years before buying a current Nvidia card. 🤷🏼‍♂️

They're pricing out average gamers, they got high on crypto profit way too much.

It's a bullshit excuse to justify excessive pricing. Corporate ego masquerading and frankness.

I’m curious to see what the lower end 40 series look like, Evga leaving and the clear 4070 being sold as a 4080 might sway people to amd. But for the right price the 4050/4060 might help them do numbers

Consoles gonna get a lift 👍

No point going for the 40 series

Hopefully AMD will take advantage of this and come out with GPUs way cheaper tbh.

Setting the stage for AMD and Intel...

Please can you call the '4080' 12gb by its proper name....... 4070 😉

It’s been replaced by “we want more law”.

He should wrap that leather jacket around his greedy corpo mouth.

Haha dead just like Nvidia are going to be bye bye Nvidia even if AMD isn't as good I'm buying it just in spite of your corporate bullshit $17.475 billion annual profit for 2022. Dont buy there bullshit people.

The last 2 years showed a Nvidia and their stockholders everything they needed to know. Ppl are willing to pay 2x-3x msrp for the best hardware, period. With the mining demand now lessening it may be time for the true consumer base to reject these prices. But I doubt it.

They can keep their bricks, I've been a nvidia user for so many years but now I think it's time to switch to team red.

No wonder EVGA jumped ship, this dude is so full of himself.

You can keep your cards.

Yes, let's all listen to the CEO of a greedy corp about why super high prices are justified. It's not like he want to pocket that sweet profit $$$

But my Nvidia card better

Nvidia saw gpu hungry mofos paying over 3k for gpus. I'm sure Nvidia watching all this go down decided they can pretty much charge whatever they want now and people will pay for it. I'd do the same thing as well.

I'm waiting benchmarks to compare 30's and 40's performance, even crossed (like 4070 vs 3080). Than I'll decide which card of which series to buy. I'll go fo the best value for money to beat the 1080 I'm gonna replace.

Bad play. I don't see sales of this gen being very good for Nvidia. They lost a lot of potential sales. No crypto bros, no EVGA, no EVGA loyalist, No mid tier builders, and hardly anyone that has a 30 series.

Between this and EVGA, think my next card will be AMD.

I'm more interested in what Lisa Su will have to say

With how the new AMD's CPU's look I am hoping the new GPU's follow suit as well.

He's talking about the wrong part of the price/performance ratio here to dismiss the problem. Gross.

If thats the message he is going to give us, then I suggest that we should give him this one; 'Sorry but i wont buy'

Lol 20 years using Evga new brooch Work fine until new update graphic then k festival 2070 rtx ultra super you pasme cod MW2019 lol new pc from Best b no good p.n. 08G-P4–3173-KB usa package 😂

Lmao, they're gonna go down

Greed 📈

I have been an nvidia supporter throughout my PC gaming life but this attitude pushes me towards team red.

Looks like the 3060ti will be my last Nvidia card. I switched from AMD with a 750 and been Nvidia since. This whole series looks like a joke. Massive power consumption and gigantic size is quite ridiculous. Guess it's back to AMD

I feel this quote is being misinterpreted. Cards that are old will still go down in price with time. Card price on launch vs the previous generation is going to be climbing. When people want to get rid of stock that's not being manufactured anymore, you have no control.

“We are greedy, deal” just what we love to hear from every self-serving executive!

Yeah? No one is gonna buy your new cards either. Why buy something new when i can buy something old and get the same performance? lmao

'Moore's law is dead. And the ability for Moore's Law to deliver twice the performance at the same cost, or the same performance at half the cost every year and a half is over. It's completely over.' In other words, they've gone 100% greedy and AMD will take them over in time.

Just watch the Radeon 7000 series be just as powerful for a fraction of the price. My next build is looking more and more like it'll be all AMD.

This is unacceptable

The only thing we have to do is simply not buy it for that price, they drop it where it should be so we start buying it again and the bs is done We are connected and gamer enough to know how to group up like ingame and work together to win a damn match Now it must be done IRL

If you bought a 3080 ti/3090 card and even bought them during their price hike. You can only blame yourselves.

'A word from Jensen over the price of the RTX 4080' 'Yo, pay up biatch!'

They are essentially marketing themselves out of the market. It's not good for the future of pc gaming and custom builds.

AMD can you please undercut and crush them? I know about a million green boys ready to jump ship.

once upon a time, nokia was cocky like this, look how it turned out for them :)

I think he said we can't get the money from crypto, so lets rip off gamers again I do like Nvid and use a rtx 2080 gamer X oc'd from MSI but with the 4000 range they are taking the piss with the costs

Starting to hate this guy more and more

Jensen was just referring to the 'Moore's law is dead' podcast that leaks everything Intel says

All that has to happen is the same thing that happend with the 30 series. Gamers just simply say 'no' at those inflated prices. We won't have scalpers, price is already too high. Won't have miners, mining is dead now. They can't afford to sit on the 4000 series.

We'll see if he's right when amd announces their cards. I suspect he's right, and Radeon is gonna be super expensive too 😅

So the only thing that doubled this time was the price? He really told us.

I liked how most of the performance charts they've shown are entirely fluffed by DLSS 3 frame doubling and its big latency increase. I don't like motion smoothing on my tv why would I want it on my PC?

you are comparing the wrong cards/prices.

AMD now getting its ammunition ready for the 7000 Series announcement.

ive always been a fan of nvidia because its truly the best way to go overall, but at this point i want them to fail, hes getting way too cocky and its affecting the consumers.

Let us not forget the scummy 4080 nonsense they are pulling because they want to charge $900 for a 4070 by calling it a 4080.

Falling GPU prices are thing of 'the past', Nvidia saysEarlier this week, Nvidia announced its next series of GeForce RTX cards - and raised eyebrows at how much some of them… Radeon I am on my knees begging for you to do something about the GPU market like AMD did to the CPU market Just as the previous generation prices plummet second hand due to the demise of GPU based crypto mining Seems an odd choice from Nvidia Unfortunately with the possibility of a Chinese invasion to Taiwan this is very true
