Nurse strikes will mean patients only receive a 'bank holiday' level of service across the NHS this winter.

Senior health sources said the NHS will operate as if it is Christmas Day, with elective treatments being scrapped but emergency care continuing to go ahead.

The move is expected to worsen the NHS backlog which has already piled up to seven million people in England waiting for elective hospital treatment by August. It comes ahead of the 'winter of discontent' which is already expected to see added pressure from fresh waves of Covid and flu.A health official told the Telegraph: "The understanding we have… is that they will commit to delivering a bank holiday level of service.

I hope the goverment will jive the nurses what need so the strike is avoided.. our nurses deserve a decent salary..

Ooh that's scary! Compare it to having no strikes, tens of thousands of staff leaving, the rest overstretched, more go off sick with physical and mental health issues... and then patients only receive a 'bank holiday' level of service across the NHS - for the foreseeable future!

Maybe, I dunno, improve their fucking lives?

That's the level of Appt's at most GP surgeries each morning at 0800hrs. After strike action, only then will the Gov't and the general public truly and fully appreciate just what we've got in our Nurses, HCA's Porters, etc. MP's probably have 'Private' medical as a job perk!

Biggest-ever NHS nurses strike 'would hit A&E patients' and worsen Covid backlogAround 300,000 nurses are thought to have voted in favour of industrial action in the first of a potential cascade of strikes Perhaps the government should pay them more and then they wouldn’t need to. We need more nurses and doctors; however, I can’t see that happening under this government, especially with the expected cuts in the upcoming fiscal statement.
