A Royal Preston Hospital nurse was found dead next to two vials of prescription medication which were likely taken from her workplace, an inquest has heard.
Katy would later turn whistleblower in an email entitled ‘Crisis in Ward 2A’, the response to which again caused concern among the family. She was then assaulted by another patient in February 2018 and attempted to take her own life one month later. According to her family, Katy felt “unsupported” by her employers at that time but she began to enjoy her job again over time and appeared happy before her untimely death at the age of 27.

A report from PC Nick Fielding, of Lancashire Constabulary, detailed various internet searches carried out on Katy’s phone in the months before her death which included questions of how to deal with feeling suicidal.
