The new host will split presenting duties with Anita Rani

Nuala McGovern attends the Berggruen Prize Gala at Berggruen Hearst Estate on May 04, 2022 in Beverly Hills, California. McGovern will now host slots between Monday and Wednesday each week, starting on 13 May, with current host Anita Rani continuing to present the show from Thursday through to Saturday.Nuala McGovern said: “I’m looking forward to working with the superb Woman’s Hour team on the rigorous journalism expected on women’s issues but also making time for escapism and fun.

She also spoke to a host of high-profile women including education activist Malala Yousafzai, actresses Laura Dern and Rosamund Pike, singer Arlo Parks and Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Dame Lynne Owens.She has reported for the broadcaster from more than 30 countries and at many important events including at both the funeral of the late Queen and the coronation of the King.

Rani, who has presented on a number of shows, documentaries and radio stations for the BBC, joined the Woman’s Hour team in 2021 to present the Friday and Saturday editions. “She’s an exceptional journalist who brings an astonishing range of broadcasting experience to this role.

Long-serving presenter Garry Richardson to leave BBC Radio Four's Today programmeGarry Richardson, who has been working on BBC Radio Four's Today programme for 33 years, will step down this autumn. He will present the sports news for the final time on 9 September, marking 50 years since his first day at the BBC.
