Nottingham Forest must sell one of their star players by 30th June as they look to get on top of their financial situation,Forest could be at risk of receiving another points deduction next season for potentially breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules if they don’t balance the books in the next few weeks.
The original independent commission, which handed the Reds a four-point deduction in March this year, showed the club are at risk of breaching the rules again this season. It would mean Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have to make around £30million in profit from player sales before the deadline at the end of June. It’s been a turbulent few months for Forest since they were handed their four-point deduction for breaching the spending rules. That means the Reds remain three points clear of third-bottom Luton Town heading into the final couple of games of the Premier League season.
While top-flight survival would ease some of their financial concerns, Forest are still likely going to have to sell one of their star players.Although Nuno won’t want to lose any of those players as he looks to push on next season, the financial fair play concerns surrounding the club may leave him with no choice.
