The Premier League have confirmed Nottingham Forest have been hit with a points deduction for breaking financial regulations.
A statement on the Premier League's website said: "An independent Commission has applied an immediate four-point deduction to Nottingham Forest FC for a breach of the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules for the period ending Season 2022/23. "Commissions are independent of the Premier League and member clubs. The members of the Commission were appointed by the independent Chair of the Premier League Judicial Panel."
The club and the Premier League are able to appeal the outcome of Forest’s hearing. Premier League rules state any appeals process should "conclude no later than and if possible some time before 24 May" - five days after the final match day of the current season. Any points deductions or sanctions must be applied to this season.
