Northern Ireland GP on reducing viral infections as kids head back to school

Children and parents have been saying goodbye to the long summer holidays this week after a well-deserved break as students return to school.The first half-term back in school generally sees a spike in children’s viral illness with kids back in close contact with each other.That means GPs across Northern Ireland are gearing up for an increase in seasonal colds and flu over the coming weeks.

"That usually takes around a week to spread pretty quickly through the class and then the whole school so we'll see the impact of that in the second or third week of the month." "A good balanced and healthy diet and exercise are the two most important factors in terms of immunity when it comes to keeping people well.
