No more free rides: US seeks to limit emotional support animals on planes

Some animal lovers and nervous fliers may squawk but the US government wants a definitive “neigh” to the question of passengers bringing rabbits, turtles, birds, miniature horses and other unusual emotional support animals on planes in future, especially free of charge.The US Department of Transportation on Wednesday proposed that only specially trained dogs qualify as service animals, which must be allowed in a passenger plane cabin at no charge.

Oh no, does that mean I can't bring my emotional support wasps onto any flights now?

There should be an exemption for Pilots. If they want their emotional support animal then let them.

I understand that people abuse it, who wants to put their pet with the luggage. But any kind of flight propably puts stress on animals, so I would personally never fly with animals just because my autism and anxiety needs them I rather suffer unless completely nessesry of course

Finally... it’s like Noah’s Arc up there. Fkn ridiculous on some flights. There should be designated flights for animals. And yes that would be the expensive ones also.

Many people in the US abuse the privilege. While I don't want to deprive someone who genuinely needs the support of their animal, it is the abusers that have caused this problem.
