The heatwave means that the queues for cooling ice-creams will be longer than ever this weekend. But the old vans with their idling engines are also churning out harmful emissions to the parents and kids waiting in line. Close your eyes and you can almost hear the throb of the engine and taste the smell of diesel exhaust in the back of your throat.
I hope it's just vegan ice cream (if you truly care about the planet and CO2 emissions)
Electric cars aren't new. When I was 12 I used to do a milk round in an electric-powered milk float. We got around. Not fast, but we got around. They're talking about electric cars having to make a noise. I say Greensleeves, like an ice cream van. Imagine the cacophony!
I'm hoping to retrofit a used motorhome with batteries, solar panels and an electric powered motor.
Well hopefully it emits ice-cream!
