A healthcare worker in north-west London quit her job after she was refused permission to wear a protective face mask, the Guardian has learned.
That employer was stupid for that kind of action! They are responsible for her health and life safety ! They should pay her for her employment loss and be willing to admit wrong doing and hire her back if she wants.

In a normal world, the superior is fired and the nurse back to work. Then in that normal world a toxic and incompetent manager can't do damage anymore and a very valuable nurse is back to her duties, caring for others. These situations can always be good.

Look at how Chinese doctors and nurses are armed and how they keep a very low fatalities in the medical workers during the outbreak.

Personally, I’d rather ask another nurse or doctor what they thought of the specific scenario and take my cue from them. Not sure we aren’t being pushed to a view by a reporter here...... Reporters have agendas.....

RisleyJoanne I hope she sees a lawyer. She may have been put in a position of constructive dismissal. The employer has a duty of care to staff. I am not convinced by this fixed rule position they are taking. I suspect it won't stand legal scrutiny.

The Govt policy is “Cough and sneeze in your elbow if you are a healthy person walking in open public space BUT cough or sneeze open when you are admitted in hospital during a pandemic”.

Face mask increases the dose of infection due to false security. Respiratory protection with gas filter masks reduces the dose of infection and improves covid prognose. Also personnel must be replaced so that no one works for several days in a row in extremely high virus content.

This is the biggest problem in the NHS after the underfunding; idiot managers and admin staff who act like a dept is their little kingdom. I've friends who are being forced to attend face 2 face IT training by one of these, and threatened with disciplinary if they don't attend.
