As bereaved families seek answers, number of cases and alleged failings cause concern in England

When Brian Whittaker began suffering kidney problems in October, his family were anxious about the 79-year-old visiting hospital, worried he might contract Covid-19. His daughter, Julie Tranham, who trained as a nurse at the same hospital, reassured relatives that strict NHS infection control practices meant he would be safe. “I have had to eat my words since,” she said ruefully.

Having failed to land a punch on Matt Hancock the Guardian now seeks a softer target. Pathetic nonsense from pathetic hacks.

Or worse still, the cross contamination of tests which has let to many dying after being designated DNR

Tide is turning and question are starting to be asked but will the answers come I don’t think so some how 🤬🤬

It's kinda hard to prevent a virus getting to people during a pandemic, unless you wrap them in cling film. That's kinda why we keep saying 'Behave, wash your hands and stop spreading it like s plague rat'

nhs staff like me who contracted it at work in 1st wave. as government & nhs managers faffed from safety of office . “Of course u don’t need to wear ppe, it’s only for seeing patients who are +. Oh wait all those patients u saw are now positive should have worn a mask whoops

Are they covid19 infections? Or are they covid19 so called 'cases' that have been designated as such based on mass testing hospital admissions using a PCR Test that in the words of Jason Leitch IS: 'A BIT RUBBISH'

I really don't want to cancel my subs but your social media headline writers are woeful and increasingly reactionary.

Shame on you you're sounding as bad as all the tory media. What's the cause of any failings of the NHS? That would be journalism, not this miserable little piece of pandering to the NHS bashers who want any excuse to privatise.

Is this the same NHS who were struggling to find PPE last year and were having to reuse old?

Slow clap for the guardian for this ‘hot scoop’

Yes. Completely inadequate PPE supplied by the government. Therefore infections inevitable
