The ban is an effort by the government after a lengthy public consultation to reduce marine litter.

Wet wipes containing plastic are set to be banned across the UK in a bid to protect our environment and protect wildlife.

So when will the wet wipe ban come into force? The Scottish Government has said the ban will be introduced within the next few years with the regulations being introduced within the next seven months. On their website they confirmed: "Scottish Ministers will introduce regulations by the end of 2024 with the ban due to come into force 18 months later."

Why is there a wet wipe ban? The Scottish Government explain that wet wipes containing plastic do not biodegrade in the natural environment and sadly, remain like so for several years.
