An online petition calling for a public inquiry to be held into changes made to the State Pension age for women born in the 1950s has passed the 10,000 signature threshold and is now entitled to a written response from the UK Government.
The Ombudsman’s report has suggested compensation at level four, ranging between £1,000 and £2,950, could be appropriate for each of those affected. The ombudsman has also said that, in addition to paying compensation, the DWP should acknowledge its failings and apologise. Latest State Pension News During a backbench debate on the PHSO report on Women’s State Pension age in Parliament on Thursday, it was said that women born in the 1950s suffered a “gross injustice” and a compensation scheme should be established urgently - preferably before the summer recess starts on July 23.
