Plans for a new bridge over the River Trent have been hailed as a "catalyst for change" by homeowners living in an "isolated" housing development nearby. Plans for an 87-metre-long pedestrian and cycle bridge over the River Trent, linking the Trent Basin area in Nottingham to Lady Bay in Rushcliffe, were recently submitted after lengthy delays.
Caterina Chiofalo, 34, who moved into her home in August 2023, thought the new transport link would help connect the currently isolated housing development - which is in a predominantly industrial area. “I’m looking forward to it because it’s going to be something very positive for the area."I hope this project doesn’t take too long. It is a bit isolated here because we’re in an industrial area with new residential buildings.
Neighbour John Tew, 30, a chemical engineering tutor at University of Nottingham, added: “Personally, I think it’s a great plan and I’m excited to see how it unfolds. It’ll make a lot of things more convenient and would make our community a bit more lively.” Trent Basin resident Nik Wood, 38, said: “I’m more than happy about this project. If they can build it as fast as possible then it would be great.
