People claiming Child Benefit or Guardian’s Allowance will see payment rates rise next week, although they won’t actually receive the full uprating amount until their next payment cycle. This is because most benefit payments from HM Revenue and Customs and the Department for Work and Pensions are paid in arrears.
Chancellor Jeremy Hunt announced the changes in the Spring Budget earlier this month saying that the current threshold system is “unfair”.
