PIP informal observations are limited to between the point at which the assessment actually begins to when it ends.

SNP MP Marion Fellows has urged the Department for Work and Pensions to “end informal observations” during Personal Independence Payment assessments for people living with Multiple Sclerosis or those with fluctuating conditions.

The DWP Minister added: “Informal observations included in a health professional’s assessment report to DWP are considered alongside all other available evidence including evidence from professionals who may have observed the claimant more regularly to determine entitlement.
