New figures published by Social Security Scotland show that there are now 192,575 people in receipt of Adult Disability Payment . This includes 83,190 new applicants and 109,385 existing Personal Independence Payment claimants who have now transferred from the Department for Work and Pensions to the devolved benefits system.
Social Security Scotland said it wants to make the redetermination process as easy as possible for claimants who wish to challenge their award decision. But is reminding people they must sign the form themselves, or have it signed by their officially registered appointee - even if they have third-party assistance to fill out their other details.
It explained: “Our application response letters come with a paper form for redeterminations or appeals. If people wish to challenge our response, please fill out the form, have the client sign it, and post it to our offices. If there is no form available, you can find downloadable redetermination and appeals forms on the Scottish Government website.”
