Netflix fans have praised the release of an old British drama nearly 20 years after it ended. This week, the streaming service uploaded all four seasons of Fat Friends , which ran on ITV from 2000 until 2005. Set in Leeds , the followed the lives of several slimming club members, with a focus on the various ways their weight has impacted upon them.
Created by Kay Mellor, it starred Ruth Jones, James Corden, Sheridan Smith and Alison Steadman, who all later went on to appear in the sitcom Gavin & Stacey. The club was run by the formidable Carol (Janet Dibley), who fruitlessly tried to persuade the members of the group to follow the ‘Super Slimmers’ diet. After seeing the episodes were all available to watch on Netflix now, fans couldn’t wait to share their excitement
