Wednesday's front page: Putin's war spills into Poland TomorrowsPapersToday Latest by mollyblackall and NickMDuffy:

A Russian missile has reportedly killed two people in Poland near the border with Ukraine, according to US intelligence officials, triggering Nato crisis talks.

A spokesman added the country is “verifying if we need to activate Nato Article 4”, but did not confirm the source of the blast.Nato Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg will chair an emergency meeting of the alliance’s 30 member states on Wednesday, officials confirmed. Poland requested a meeting on the basis of Article 4, which concerns the violation of a Nato state’s territorial integrity or security, rather than Article 5, which concerns a direct assault or act of war against a member state.

UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said: “We are urgently looking into reports of missiles landing in Poland, and are in contact with our Polish friends and Nato allies.” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said: “[Russian Federation] kills wherever it can reach. Today it arrived in [Poland]. This attack on collective security in the Euro-Atlantic region is an escalation. People died. My condolences to my brothers and sisters. Always with you. RF terror must be stopped. Solidarity is our strength.”

Latvia, a fellow Nato member and an eastern European state, said that the alleged incident was a “very dangerous escalation by the Kremlin”.
