Keeley Wilson, 36, recalls the ECG monitor flatlining and hearing a long beep as surgeons performed a c-section. Her next memory is of the anaesthetist performing chest compressions before her heart stopped for a second time.
The traumatic experience left Keeley, a travel consultant from Rochdale who also runs a Christmas tree decorating business, battling PTSD, anxiety, flashbacks and nightmares. Keeley had opted for an elective c-section due to a previous emergency procedure with her first daughter, Mya, now 14, who was breach.
Keeley suspects that a defibrillator was used to restart her heart and adrenaline was administered. She believes the entire procedure lasted just over two hours. Following an ECG and chest x-ray, Keeley was informed that she had fractured ribs from the chest compressions.
