'I think his view would be it's ridiculous' Son of man who stole Stone of Destiny from Westminster Abbey says his father wouldn't want it used in King's Coronation

By Elizabeth QuigleyThe son of the man who removed the Stone of Destiny from Westminster Abbey and smuggled it back to Scotland says his father would be against it returning for the King's Coronation.

His son Jamie said his father would not want the stone to go to London for the crowning of King Charles in May.The Stone of Destiny is seen as a historic symbol of Scotland's monarchy. In 1950, Mr Hamilton and three other students from Glasgow carried out an audacious heist in order to make a bold statement about Scottish nationalism.

As a nation,no one cares what your farther thinks.

What he or his dad want is sort of irrelevant, if it ends up there, it was destiny...

Are you interviewing anyone else whose opinion is entirely irrelevant?

Typical Scottish behaviour, always wanting to be the centre of attention. His father stole it which makes him a thief if the eyes of the law. Pathetic little man jealousy

It's stone, put it in a rock crusher and make gravel. And put an end to this nonsense.

Who cares what this bozo thinks

It’s a piece of rock!

So? Who cares about the opinions of a thief?

What the fucking hell does his opinion even need considering for?

ok but who asked him though? 🤣🤣😂

How about the stolen stone is returned to its rightful culture? Oh my god stolen artefact alert….

He did not steal the Stone of Destiny from WM. He returned it to its rightful home. This is just more poor journalism from unionist BBC.

Should be kept in Scotland!

Of course he would think it's ridiculous. Why is this even news?

So?

The EBC is really pushing it today. Repatriating things stolen by England. And, A true Prince of Wales is ‘self proclaimed’ yet they call todays unelected English colonialist ‘prince of Wales’.

STOLE! What the son of England’s king edward said this ? Is this before mystic Meg popped off. Are you trying to say the father of man who rightly reclaimed what belonged to Scotland says yer adulterer king Charlie the tampon shouldn’t be crowned on it 😂😂😂🤡🤡

My question is how the heck did he walk out of the Abbey with it!?

Who gives a fuck what someone's father who once stole a block of stone wants?

It a lump of rock🙄

How could a Scot steal a Scottish stone ?

Not the real stone. A fake replica. As is the monarchy. It’s all fake. We are being abused by frauds, criminals, gangsters, evil ones.

Which bit of you can't 'steal' stolen property back to the original owner are you not understanding British State Broadcaster?

Having a monarchy is obscene We are all jock Tamsons bairns No man should think they are above another ScottishIndependence is what we need

Charles 3rd is also the king of Scotland as well as England! Sometimes people need to wake up to the fact the royals are descend from the Stuarts! before them some of the Kings of Scotland had Norman blood as well as one of the first had Viking blood.

Ffs its a bloody bit of stone there are plenty of quarries that'll knock you a lump out that looks pretty much the same

He never stole it. The English stole it from Scotland in 1296. Does no one at the know their history?🤔😡

It's not the real Stone anyway.

How exactly does one 'legally' return stolen property, and then have the brass neck to borrow it in order to proclaim some German laird king of Scots, gtf.

Not a problem anyway as it is not the real Stone of Destiny as the English never had it in the first place although the repatriation (Not Theft) of the fake was brilliant. Real stone described as black and shiny, the 'copy' is just a block of granite 😁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I'm gonna nick it

What was ridiculous was a 25 year old student vandalising and breaking in two something they supposedly held so dear.

It’s for Scottish kings not German

As if it's his. Pff.

The views of seditious criminals are thankfully worth less than members of decent society.

He stole it so why is his opinion note worthy lol

Who cares I have more problems in my life to care about puts his fat ass on what 😉

I don’t want the whole sorry event. I’m really offended at some rich bloke telling me to do voluntary work on a bank holiday just so ge xan take the credit. AbolishTheMonarchy

Let's just not have a coronation. Problem solved then NotMyKing

He didn’t steal it. That was your English King.

RolandS13014285 He did not 'steal' it, you numpty. He REPATIATED IT BACK TO ITS RIGHTFUL OWNER.

He didn't steal it, the English stole it, he just went down and brought it home.

He didn’t steal it. Stone was returned to rightful owners.

It's a Scottish artifact & should remain in Scotland.

How can anyone ever steal something that was already his🤔

It's a stone it has no powers or any feelings and won't know where it is or isn't, it can neither hear, see or talk, it's a doorstep at best and folk fight and argue over it 🤔ffs some people need to get a life🤣

My dad wouldn't want it either.

I don’t want “Dial of Destiny” but we’re going to get it anyway.

Why are we paying any heed to the son of a thief and a vandal?

Can’t they use the teapot of courage instead?

It was re patriated you colonialist Tory clowns. DefundTheBBC

Who gives a shit, it's a big piece of rock ffs!

Its just a stone ffs. Get a fcking grip

He did NOT STEAL the stone. REPATRIATION the stone. Your 🇬🇧 bias is always on hand. ToryMediaCollaborators

Who'd trust WM to return it ?

Simple answer, not his decision to make as it was stolen. That said, I do believe that it should be returned to Scotland, for the Scottish people. England stole it, they know who rightfully owns it, return it to where it rightfully belongs 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

It's a stone, that's all it is.

Time changes so much that it could change towards evil, and evil could change towards good. Views change. So who knows.

Who cares what the son of a petty criminal thinks?!!!

More Woke Nonsense

My Whippet's grandfather's brother would never have followed the BBC on twitter.

But is it pronounced 'Stoen' or 'Stonn' or even 'Stoon'? 😜

* who recovered

He's the king of Scotland tho...even if the United Kingdom breaks up, he'll still likely be the king.

When it was stolen it cost my grandfather his career in the police

Winner: Most Ridiculously Contrived Story So Far 2023

He didn’t steal it. England stole it.

The English are thieves, just look in museums, churches & palaces, they are full of treasures that belonged to others. It's time to give them back. In 1898, Mbuya Nehanda & Sekuru Kaguvi led a small rebellion against the English, their heads & hands remain on display in London.

This is a good son

And his opinion is national news because... ?

Of all the reasons I want independence, and of all things Scottish I am proud of, a rock is at the very bottom of the pile! A rock associated with the crowning of monarchs?! Is that what we’re getting our knickers in a twist about?!

Stone of Destiny was *stolen from Scotland by the English in the 13thC, so imo England has zero proprietorial rights over it, any more than the British Museum has over the Elgin Marbles or other relics stolen by the BritishEmpire. Length of time thieves have it is irrelevant.

Oh well that’s it then. If your dad didn’t want it they’ll have to scrap the whole thing.

Any news on the strikes? Or are you just covering that up? 1930sGermany

This is not up to SNP but the people of Scotland. SNP can protest by not attending the coronation seeing they are anti-monarchist. They won't be missed.

Totally agree Charles III is from the House of Windsor all of German descent, with very loose links to the House of Stewart.

NOTMYKING

Who cares what the thieving twat wants, criminals have no say in a civilised society, in fact they should be removed from it

Why are the BBC broadcasting the view of the son of a thief, as if it has any relevance or bearing?

Can you steal something that was already stolen, particularly if you are taking it back to where it belongs?

So what?

Well if his father was any kind of decent thief then surely using it wouldn’t be an option 🤷🏽‍♂️

oh well 🤷🏻‍♂️

“Son of man who recovered stolen Stone of Destiny from Westminster Abbey”

Just for some context, the UK is a polity that was originally united under a Scottish king. Apart from a monarch, all the English got from the union of 1604 was Scotland’s debt, which the Scots got because of failed colonial ventures.

For the love of god let them keep their stupid stone, im sure the coronation will be just fine without a lump of rock. And by the way the fact this is even debated is hilarious, its a piece of rock, perhaps we should discuss poverty instead.

'My dad wouldn't want Stone of Destiny at Coronation'

It's a rock.

He didn't STEAL it. He REPATRIATED it. HOME to Scotland.

Slow news day BBC? Who cares what the son of a thief thinks.

Stole? Surely you mean returned to Scotland? It was the English that stole the stone from it's rightful home.

Who asks some of the thief what his thieving father would think?

It wasn't stolen, it was returned to its rightful home. Bbc bias and lack of impartiality in show again with a headline like that.

This proves the point Scotland is not free, they take the stone to London for the king to be crowned instead of the king coming to Scotland and being crowned with the Scottish crown on it. If it was a union of equals as they claim, he would go to each nation to be crowned.

And now his sibling and JohnSwinney 's wife gets to add to this petty tripe. 🙄

What is this nonsense just get the fucking thing over and done with instead of umming and aahhing over what useless antiques and trinkets they want to drag out on the day.

So let’s get this straight, if an old man doesn’t sit on a magic brick when the man in drag puts his fancy hat on his head then Scotland is out of the union?

Who knew Thanos had a son?

biasedbbc

Give the stone back to Scotland and give England a referendum and ask if the English want independence from Scotland

This guy has absolutely no say in anything.

johnnie_mc The stone should not be leaving Scotland again!

This is the 21. century. and we are still trapped by evil rulers and regimes, that made the whole Christianity thing up to trap your mind more than 1000 years ago.

What a load of old bollocks.

TBF it was stolen from Ireland.

Don’t care what he thinks

Just a lump of stone 🙄

It was a rolling stone that gathers no moss.

Presumably it’s a slow news day today if you’re giving time yo this twaddle.

Did Homer Simpson once suffer having to pull it at a Stonecutters meeting. Will they make Charles do the same?
